Appleton police have arrested a pizza-delivery driver accused of firing
a BB gun at another vehicle in an apparent road-rage incident.
The 21-year-old Appleton man was jailed Sunday on tentative charges of
reckless endangerment and discharging a dangerous weapon.
Two Neenah residents, ages 17 and 23, told police they were shot at
after they exchanged comments with the passing delivery driver about
5:45 p.m.
One round hit the windshield of their car and the other hit the
23-year-old in the arm.
Authorities stopped the pizza-delivery vehicle and found a loaded BB
gun inside.
Police say the driver was taken into custody but didn’t comment on the
events leading up to the incident.

Schlitz the beer that made Milwaukee famous released the original reciepe in Milwaukee a couple days ago. I finally had some time to go out and get it. TO my surprise I could not find it anyware. I went to my 4 favorite beer places and they all sold out the day it came out. At Discount Liquor they had a sign that basically said the distributor screwed up and only gave them a couple dozen cases of the beer and then left the phone # of the distributor for people to call and complain. I did find out that another shipment will be out in 4 weeks. Guess I will try them.

Yes, that’s Mini-Me Verne Troyer in a sex tape shot with his former

snatched up the tape and although no deal has been made, we hear dealer
Kevin Blatt, who brokered the deal for Paris’ video, is entertaining a
$100k offer from SugarDVD to distribute the nastiness.

Received my score sheets from the State Fair Competition. The gold medal Kolsch scored a 37 and missed being in the best of show by one point. Thinking if I would have filtered the beer I could have been in the best of show, but doubt it would have won much more.

The bronze winning stout got a 31 which I still think is high for that beer. The notes on this beer conflict each other on many levels. I know one of the judges and take generally side with him on beers we have tasted, but I think the other judge was more right. I know that I was unable to get the hops I wanted for this batch and had to do some substitutions on the malt bill that I wasn’t happy with so hopefully next years batch will be better.

The Alt beer scored a 28 and once again the score sheets conflict with each other. To me the beer was over carbonated which one judge agreed with. The other judge said it was to low. I’ve had a couple pro brewers say that there was some slight diacetyl (butter flavor) in the beer, which I have a problem tasting, but believe could be there. One judge mentioned it the other didn’t. Over all a 28 is a little better than I would have gave it, and am happy with the score. I have a bunch of things I will try to improve the beer.

This isn’t the 1st time I’ve had this beer and I have a soft spot for Sprecher in my liver as it’s the brewery that got me into micro brews and homebrewing. Sprechers IPA2 is a great double IPA that is unlike others that I had. It starts with a malty sweetness that you don’t see in single IPA’s none the less a double. It is then followed by an hoppyness that balances everything out where your mouth asks for more. There is a slight hot alcohol sensation on the tongue which mixes well with the earthy tones of the Northern Brewer Hops. This beer comes in at 7.5% ABV but it’s easy drinking can blind side the less experience beer drinker. Even my 280 body can only slowly drink 2 of these before getting a little shined up.

In closing this beer might be a little to much for a hot summers day, but a perfect night cap on those summer night.

Today is Friday the 13th. and in each year there is at least 1 Friday the 13th but never more than 3.

Sitting down listening to it thunder and rain out and just opened up Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere Harvest Fresh Hop Ale (try to say that after a few beers). The beer seems to be a extra fresh hoppy version of their world famous Pale Ale. The beer uses freshly picked hops from New Zealand that are flown to the brewery located in Washington in less than a week. The result is a very hoppy smelling and tasting beer. Not sure if I woul dbe able to drink more than one of these but if you like hops it’s one you need to pick up.

So I entered both the beers that won medals in the Wisconsin State Fair competition into the Boneyard Brew Off that was held somewhere in Illinois. I felt pretty cofident that I would get one medal out of this competition but was surprised by what beer won. The Kolsch that took a gold at State Fair did not medal, but the stout that took 3rd in state fair also took 3rd in the Boneyard. Not sure why the kolsch didn’t win anything. Maybe something happened in shipping, or something like. I’ll have to see what the score sheets say when I get them. I know that a beer in that category took 2nd best of show so maybe there where a bunch of great beers in that catergory. I don’t think the stout is actually that good so I’m not sure that beer keeps on winning 3rd places, but I’ll take it.

I will be carbonating 2 brand new recipes this weekend. I brewed a Amber Ale and a California Common and am anxious to see how they taste.
